Class 3 2026-27

🌟 Welcome to Class 3!
Welcome to Class 3 – a busy, creative and curious classroom where we love to learn, explore and discover!
We are a hardworking, inquisitive and caring class who enjoy creating, exploring, writing, imagining and discovering new things. We believe that learning should be exciting, purposeful and enjoyable, and we encourage every child to have a go, ask questions and take pride in what they achieve.
👨🏫 Meet the Class 3 Team
Class Teacher: Mr Dennett
Mr Dennett is supported throughout the week by our fantastic team of teaching assistants: Mrs Battrick, Mrs O'Dowd, Miss Wiggins, Mrs Cliff and Mrs Pennill.
Together, we work hard to create a classroom where every child feels valued, included, confident and ready to learn.
📚 Learning in Class 3
There is always lots to discover in Class 3!
We follow a two-year curriculum cycle, ensuring that all the required learning objectives are covered while giving children plenty of opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding across the curriculum.
We place a strong emphasis on self-esteem, inclusion and confidence. Children are encouraged to share their ideas, listen to others and express themselves clearly.
🗣️ Finding Our Voice
Oracy – speaking and listening – is an important part of life in Class 3.
We provide lots of opportunities for children to talk, discuss, explain, question and present their ideas. We believe that being able to communicate confidently and listen respectfully helps children to become successful learners and well-rounded individuals.
🌳 Forest School
Monday afternoons
Forest School gives children the opportunity to learn and explore outdoors, develop practical skills and enjoy learning in a different environment.
Please make sure your child has appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear, particularly as the weather changes. We go out whatever the season!
🏃 PE
Tuesday afternoons
PE takes place on Tuesdays, so children should come to school wearing their PE kit.
Please also make sure your child has a transparent water bottle in school.
🏠 Learning at Home
We really appreciate your support with learning at home. Homework is set on Mondays and is designed to reinforce and consolidate the learning taking place in the classroom.
✏️ Weekly Homework
Homework will usually include:
-
Magma Maths – activities to practise and consolidate maths learning.
-
Spelling Shed – activities to help children practise their weekly spellings.
✖️ Times Tables
Being confident and fluent with times tables is an important part of maths learning in Class 3.
We encourage children to practise regularly so that they can recall their times tables quickly and automatically, without needing to count.
Why not practise using Times Table Rock Stars or have a go at Hit the Button?
📖 Reading – Every Day, Every Opportunity
“There is more treasure found in books than in all the pirates' loot on Treasure Island.”
We want every child in Class 3 to become a fluent, confident and enthusiastic reader.
Reading regularly at home makes a huge difference, so please encourage your child to read as often as possible. This could be a school reading book, a library book, a favourite story, a magazine or another book of their choice.
🚀 Reading Rockets
Every time your child reads at home, they can earn a star on their Reading Rocket in their reading record.
Once they complete their rocket, they earn a prize! 🌟
Regular readers are also entered into our half-termly prize draw to win a new book.
📚 Passport to Reading
We also have our exciting Passport to Reading challenge!
When your child finishes a book, they can complete a short book review and receive a stamp in their passport. Collect 5 stamps and they earn a prize.
How many books can you read this year? 📖
🎒 Don't Forget!
Please make sure your child brings the following to school every day:
📖 Reading book
📔 Reading record
✏️ Spelling book
💧 Transparent water bottle
🌳 Forest School kit on Mondays
🏃 PE kit on Tuesdays
Having these items ready each day helps your child to feel prepared and ready to learn.
💛 Our Class 3 Community
We want Class 3 to be a place where children feel happy, safe, included and confident.
We encourage children to be kind, curious, resilient and respectful, while celebrating both their achievements and the effort they put into their learning.
Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, discovery and fun together!
