Finger Grippin Fun!

As part of our celebration of British Science Week, Class 2 have been investigating the link between the size of a person's hand and their grip strength.  What better way to measure this than trying to pick up a selection of increasingly hefty fruit - from a grape to a watermelon!

The children had a great time measuring the fruit and then trying to pick it up with one hand, from the top. It was not as easy as it may sound!

After much discussion, it was decided that it was not only the size of the person's hand but the surface of the fruit that made the most difference.  A canteloupe was quite easy as it had a rough texture.

You can see how we got on, in the photos.
